AsadoAdventure: Palermo SoHo’s Original Food, Art & Culture Walk

Palermo Viejo is yours to explore!

On this 6-hour customizable food tour, you will discover Palermo Viejo’s culinary secrets while walking its cobblestoned, tree-lined streets and enjoying its food, history, and vibrant art.

It’s usually best to start a story from the beginning, which we do on this food tour, starting with what used to be the doorway to Buenos Aires after a short typical Porteño breakfast.

We will learn how the city’s parks and tree-lined boulevards were first inspired and planned from this area and that, curiously enough, is home to one of the continent’s oldest monuments.

You will sample Argentina’s famous steak in a non-touristy location and relish the emblematic Argentine sandwich (choripan). You will also get to sample some local favorite appetizers and snacks.

One of our food stops has a craft beer option, but there is also various additional craft beer quaffing opportunities. Each place is different, so we can pick and choose depending on what you like. We can also add a wine tasting, if you want, in the middle of all of that food.

While walking from one place to the next, we will have time to admire local street art. This is a tour you experience with all your senses, and you will enjoy plenty of picture-taking opportunities.

We then head to our first lunch stop for steak with some wine. After that, we head into the heart of Palermo Viejo, where we will try some more typical foods like choripan, empanadas, and provoleta and wash it down with penguin wine. But, of course, you will have to take our tour to know what that means.

There is plenty of street art between the food stops, and we finish with some excellent ice cream from a family-owned independent ice cream maker.

Welcome to Palermo Viejo!

We will start with a typical local breakfast. Here we'll introduce ourselves, and I'll explain what is in store for all of us for the rest of the day.

The neighborhood through its parks and plazas.

We will explore Palermo Botanico and get some history while strolling through the botanic gardens and neighboring Plaza Italia. You will learn how Argentina's most dramatic financial crisis helped change this neighborhood from a sleepy residential off-the-beaten-path area to one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city. Every park and plaza we visit has a story to tell.

The local culture, through its food

You will try several local foods: steak, morcilla, choripan, provoleta, empanadas, wine, and ice cream! Everything we try will be an authentic and emblematic food of Argentina. All the food stops are locally, independently owned establishments. For example, there are many ice cream chains in Argentine, but we are going to a family-owned place that makes the ice cream on-site, and in small batches, so it is always fresh.

Wine Tasting option

If you choose to add a wine tasting to your tour, we will take you to a small boutique hotel with a wine bar and have you try three varieties of wines. This usually adds about an hour to the tour.

Craft Beer Tasting option

If you choose to add craft beer to your tour, we will take you to a craft beer bar and have you try some beers accompanied by some snacks.
